🌍✨ Big News: The UN adopts the International Day of Play, an initiative supported by LEGO and its partners! ✨🌍
March 26, 2024 will be remembered as a historic day for defenders of the right to play. Thanks to a campaign led by The LEGO Group , the LEGO Foundation and various international charities, the United Nations General Assembly has officially recognized June 11 as the International Day of Play.
This World Day is not just a celebration; it is also a powerful reminder that only 30% of adults are aware that play is recognized by the UN as a fundamental right of every child.
With up to 160 million children worldwide forced to work instead of play or learn, the urgency to put play back on the agenda has never been more critical.
The movement enjoys the support of giants such as Save the Children International , Mattel, Inc. with The Mattel Children's Foundation, Change X, Hasbro , and Nike Inc., emphasizing a universal truth: play is essential.
It not only promotes family bonds but also plays a crucial role in developing essential skills in children, enabling them to reach their full potential.
International Day of Play aims to be a unifying moment, encouraging awareness at all levels – global, national, and local – of the importance of play in children's learning and well-being.
Let’s mark our calendars for June 11, 2024, and make this International Day of Play the beginning of an era where every child has the right and space to explore, imagine, and simply be a child.
