Article: A new series to love maths
A new series to love maths
Today is World Smile Day! So how can you combine maths and smiles? We have the solution!
France TV education has launched “Simplex” (“or how maths can simplify our lives”) , the web series to make teenagers want to love maths! Risky bet? Maybe, but we are sure that your little ones will love it!
A touching story
We love this new series with its slightly crazy challenge, which is also ours: to make young people love maths! It's the story of 4 teenagers: Inès, Marion, Tom and Julien, teenagers who meet a successful mathematician: Evariste Euler (a big guy with lots of mathematical tattoos). Each episode brings to life a mathematical theorem based on the heroes' daily lives, for example "how to get a flat screen through a door using the Pythagorean theorem"! A bit like Topla in the end, where we help your children understand that maths surrounds them in their daily lives! :)
A project for math lovers
“Simplex” is in good hands because its sponsor is Cédric Villani, Fields Medalist and director of the Poincaré Institute! He declared that “The adventures of these young people and the likeable colossus Evariste Euler [highlighted] mathematics in a fun and accessible way”. That’s the whole Topla spirit of math for everyone! By the way, we’re taking this opportunity to tell you that Topla is offering a unique workshop at the Poincaré Institute on Saturday, October 15 to make a hat using mathematics :D
You can now find the first episodes of Simplex on the France Télévision Education platform.
