A story where you are the hero: how much will you use math during the holidays?
That's it, in two days it's Christmas... and the New Year in a week!
This week of the year is always full of meals, reunions, families, festivities, gifts...
And you, according to your profile, when are you most likely to use math?
A- You are planning to leave by car, you have to fit all the suitcases and gifts in the trunk:
a - You let your kids do it, they love it! Go to B
b- You don't let ANYONE touch the trunk, knowing how to tidy and arrange things is your specialty. Go to C
B - After having meticulously tidied the trunk of the car, arranged according to the shapes of the gifts: a real Tetris... Here you are driving:
a - You let the GPS guide you. Go to C
b- You have planned the whole route, you know very well at what time you will arrive in which city and where you have to stop to get gas. Go to D
C - You have finally arrived at your destination, at your grandparents' house! It's time to prepare dinner:
a- You've never been very good at cooking and on top of that having to calculate all the proportions for so many people... You decide to go and look after the children! Go to E.
b- You are the queen/king of the kitchen: counting the number of petits fours for each guest, multiplying the proportions of your usual recipes by the number of guests or cutting the log into equal parts is your specialty! Go to D
D- After the meal, it is time to organize a small activity:
a- You want to share your passion for math with your family while playing on its fun aspect. You decide to take them to a math museum (article link) Go to <3
b- Fun aspect or not, you are not going to spend the holidays without exploring the wonderful world of math. You decide to watch a short mathematical film (article link). Go to square
E - You arrive in the living room where the children are quietly playing. You will be able to empty your head of any mathematical or academic concerns. Tom arrives with a Déclic Cookie kit and some stuff:
a- Learn multiplication by making cookies? After all, why not! Here is a way to do math that suits you! Go together
b- Mathematics disguised as a fun kit? But will you be able to spend a day without doing math? (Tom article link) You suggest to Tom to make another game. But seeing that you have to count the points when you play Scrabble or handle the numbers when you play cards ( http://www.declicetdestrucs.fr/6-jeux-de-societe-devenir-super-fort-maths/ ); you capitulate! Go to spades
So? Are you going to do maths during the holidays?
[Heart] You like maths as long as you make them rhyme with fun! For you, maths are everywhere, and you want to show those around you that you can learn multiplications by making cookies, or understand fractions by painting! You have the “Topla Attitude” and it’s great! We wish you happy holidays :D
[Tile] You love math : you wear algebra like a second skin and geometry is your home. For you: everything is mathematical and you would like your children to share this passion! Thanks to our Topla kits, you can please them for Christmas! We wish you happy holidays! :D
[Pique] You went on vacation thinking: this year I'm switching off my brain during the holidays: NO math! And yet you find yourself having to cut a cake, calculate your route (article link) or count the points of a game with your little geniuses! Hey, don't worry, math can be super fun! In any case, we wish you a very happy holiday season :D
