The snowman as a boss
It's snowing all over (or almost) France, so what could be better than making a superb snowman... and taking the opportunity to revise the basics of patterns and solids ❄
.
Come on, let's go!
.
Start by downloading and printing this document: here
.
Step 1:
Cut out the two patterns, then fold on the lines to have a nice fold!
.
You folded on the edges of your pattern! Each edge connects two points of the solid to form the faces of this solid!
Count the number of edges per Pattern, this will help you find the name of this solid 😀
.
.
Step 2:
Form the two solids by gluing the tabs. You can now count the number of faces on your solid.
.
Step 3:
Glue the head to the body of your snowman. Now you can count the number of vertices of your solid. The vertex is the junction of 2 edges, or several edges. !
.
Well done !
Your character is composed of two distinct solids but from the same family. Indeed, they all have:
- 30 edges
- 12 sides
- 20 summits
They are called: Dodecahedron !
