The 7 inspiring families especially for great women!
" Great destinies with an "E"? What am I talking about here? " This is perhaps what you asked yourself when you read the title of the article. But don't panic! 😜
We often associate great destinies with men! Who remembers the incredible stories of Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Christopher Columbus and many others...? Everyone, of course. But who knows the stories of Malala Yousafzai, Yusra Mardini or Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie?
Children, stereotypes... 😮
Yes... you saw correctly. 80% of children give men's names to extraordinary story characters... 8 out of 10 children think that going on an adventure , being a pirate , winning Nobel prizes or even being a doctor are reserved for men. The question we asked ourselves and that you may have asked yourself too is " Why is this extraordinary destiny instinctively attributed to a boy? "
This is partly because of what we call: stereotypes ! " But what is a stereotype? " It's a way of looking at things, it's a shortcut if you prefer. For example, instead of considering that men and women have actively participated in the history of the world, we tend to think that it's men who have done great things, and that's because that's what we've always been taught .
And yet, great destinies with E exist! 💪
An adventurer E , an athlete E , a writer E ... they have done great things, but we don't necessarily know it. And that's where The Moon Project comes in! To address this lack of equality between men and women, we wanted to highlight these women who participated in creating history, but who are too often forgotten to be mentioned.
" But that's all very well, but if you were for equality you would have made a game with men AND women! " And indeed it is a reasoning that is not devoid of sense. However, if we made this choice it is precisely because men are already known for their actions. So, giving a boost to women is allowing them to be equal to men. We always come back to the most important thing: equality .
