The flying men
This week we're going to discover energy sources with these little men who climb, climb, climb! An activity to do with three pieces of string (yes, really!!) that will amuse the children a lot...
It's necessary :
thick paper
felt pens
a straw
a pair of scissors
scotch tape
wire
1- We start by drawing our figures on thick paper. We color them and paint them to give them style!
2- Cut out two small pieces of straw of the same length for each snowman.
3- Attach the pieces of straw to the back of the drawings with adhesive tape.
4- We pass a wire of about 50 cm through the straws as in the photo.
5- We do the same thing with all the people!
6- Pass the loop of wire around a pin planted in the wall or a door handle. Spread the two wires with your hands and watch the snowman fly away!
How does it work? To make your snowman climb, you need a source of energy. On Earth, there are several sources of energy such as wind and water. These sources of energy are used, for example, to create movement. Think of windmills, without water or wind they could not turn. To make your snowman climb, it is neither the wind nor the water that is the source of energy used, but you! It is your movement that triggered that of the snowmen. All these sources of energy are mechanical, there is another source of energy: electricity. You will discover this energy in another activity!
